No less than 23 people were driven by the subject Back to Basics - Maybe because it was Gala Fernandez, spreading colours, laughs and creating good mood around her although the subject of her workshop was about very serious matters. The participants had to analyse themselves, their personality and background, looking back at what and why, focusing on the main point of their life, making it the center of a weeks' work.
By Friday the results of this deep personal research had to be vizualised and shared with the others. From puppets, to shoe making, to light installations and projections in the trees, everything was deployed to conclude the week in an impressive demonstration of ideas. Other projects explored the notion of time with wheels and mirrors. Gala FernandezGala Fernández wurde 1969 in Madrid geboren. Sie studierte Kunst und Design an der Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Complutense Madrid, sowie Industriedesign am Istituto Europeo di Design in Mailand, wo sie später unterrichtete und verschiedene Kurse koordinierte. Sie arbeitete während vier Jahren für Fabrica, Benettons Recherchezentrum für Kommunikation, als Koordinatorin der Abteilung 3D Design und Verantwortliche des Projekts „Fabrica Features“. Sie hat am Royal College of Art, London, an der Goldsmith University, London, und am Nederland Architectuur Instituut, Rotterdam Vorlesungen gehalten. Zurzeit arbeitet sie für ihr eigenes Studio GalaFM in Madrid, und leitet das Masterprogramm European Design Labs am IED Madrid. |
