50 necklaces in 5 days

  Dine Besems came back for the third time at Boisbuchet with the project of creating 50 necklaces in 5 days. She encouraged her group to create necklaces going beyond the usual limits of jewelry. The first ideas developed from a word brainstorming that helped everyone get inspired.

The creations could be as down to earth as chains made of bread but also very conceptual. Chains are something wearable not only around the neck, but also around the body. They can be imagined for many different roles and in many different ways. All kinds of materials can be used and no borders are set.

The participants selected and combined their materials in a way, which gave birth to beautiful pieces. Everyone had somehow inserted parts of personal history in their work and had made it free from any formal restrictions.

Dinie Besems

Dinie Besems verfolgt einen unkonventionellen, konzeptuellen Ansatz: „Obwohl ich nie das Schmuckstück selber als Ausgangs-
punkt (für den Entwurf) nehme, führen meine Ideen immer zum Körper, so wie es in Bezug auf Schmuck sein sollte“ Sie nimmt die Linie als Grundlage und bezieht häufig eine numerische Methodologie mit ein, in der Formen vervielfältigt oder vergrößert werden.

Dinie Besems wurde 1966 in Oosterhout geboren and arbeitet als Schmuckdesignerin in Amsterdam. Sie hat an der Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem und an der Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam studiert.
