Portable Architecture

19.08. - 25.08.2007

The group of Robert Kronenburg invested a lot of energy and thinking into the project of the architect who had come back to Boisbuchet for the third time. From the beginning, no sketches allowed but only three-dimensional experimentation to tackle problems emerging during the making process from the start. The tables installed for the participants to work on were filled with materials of all sorts of which emerged the early stages of architectural structures.

At the end of the workshops, in the warming light of a late Friday afternoon, ten projects were presented by their creators. A lot of the portable structures were about relaxing and taking time off in a natural environment, without a doubt, a direct influence of the nature surrounding the workshops.

A gracious cylinder had been set up to allow the afternoon flaneur to enjoy the noise of wind blowing in it wings, a snail-like structure was awaiting a potential sleeper for a rest, all of these forming an improbable ensemble of a new kind of architecture. Most structures could either roll away, be folded or wrapped to then be transported matching the original requirements of the brief which was about producing architecture that could be somehow transported.
