Design with nature

On behalf of Fabrica everyone was distributed a notebook and a t-shirt in a pack completed with the brief of Sam Baron. It showed work of previous projects elaborated with natural elements. This week, the designer from Fabrica wanted to create a space to fit in objects that had the function to sit on, lie on or eat at, using nature as main material.

Each participant, all from different parts of the world, defined how they perceived this space. Models and sketches were made to illustrate it.

After more discussion a structure was finally agreed upon, which would have walls of bamboo, natural string, banana leaves, hay, grass etc.

The result was beautiful: an open frame with a roof of wicker, a wall of tiles – made of chicken wire filled with different patterns of materials – another wall with weaved materials, an installation of branches and trees, beds of bushes and hay to give it a soft feel.

Finally a structure using nature’s strong fibers, sticky thorns and velvet flowers was presented by the team who proudly invited the whole site of Boisbuchet to take part in their installation. The “home of nature” stayed in the middle of the field in front of the castle for a month until the rain finally made it perish.
