Audile - mental imagery is auditory rather than visual

15.08. - 21.08. 2010
Participation fee: 695 / 925

THEME
Audile - one whose mental imagery is auditory rather than visual or motor.
Much of modern architecture is exclusively aimed at our sense of vision, arguably to the exclusion of our other senses. The workshop will explore the landscape through the auditive. By recording how a sense of place is created through sound the group will create a folly that explores the sounds within the grounds of Boisbuchet, perhaps generating its own in response; telling the stories of the landscape.
Through creating devices that record sound we will investigate both the characteristics of the landscape and the language of forms that we need to listen to it. Using the landscape as an instrument to make sounds we can examine how the landscape communicates with itself and with us.
In this workshop we will listen to Boisbuchet and find its voices. We will identify a sense of place and celebrate its stories. Through these narratives we will discover new ways of experiencing the topology of the landscape.
