Harri Koskinen (SF)

Designer Harri Koskinen (b. 1970) studied at Lahti Institute of Design and at the University of Art and Design Helsinki. In 1998, he established his own studio called Friends of Industry, which offers product and concept design as well as exhibition architecture. Koskinen's uncompromising and outstanding design has been internationally recognized right from the beginning of his career. His clients include Altia, Arabia, Artek, Beauty Prestige International, Cassina IXC, Danese, Design House Stockholm, Finlandia Vodka Worldwide, Finlayson, Genelec, Iittala, Lundia, Magis, Marimekko, Maruni Wood Industry Inc., Issey Miyake Inc., Montina, Muji, O luce, Panasonic, Seiko Instruments Inc., Swarovski, Venini, Woodnotes etc.

 

Harri Koskinen's design is characterized by practicality and strict aesthetic criteria. He is always searching for innovative solutions for both the consumer and the producer. Usually, Koskinen relies on existing techniques and materials but tries to take them a step further. He wants to keep his designs simple - he brings out the best qualities of a product or a space and lets them speak for themselves.

 

Timo Salli (SF)

Designer Timo Salli was born in Finland in 1963. He received his BA degree in wood and metal design at the Lahti Polytechnic Institute of Design in 1992 and in 1996 he got his MA in industrial design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki. He has had his own studio since 1993 and has worked together with, for example, Cappellini, Avarte, Snowcrash, Korhonen, and Design Forum Finland. Salli has taught design courses at both the Lahti Polytechnic Institute of Design and at the University of Art and Design Helsinki and is currently professor at the Department of Product and Strategic Design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki. He has exhibited his work widely, most recently at the Design Museum in Helsinki, the Salon de Meuble in Paris, the Kunstindustrimuseet in Copenhagen and Design Stop in Stockholm. Salli has been awarded a three-year state artist grant in 1999, the Young Design Prize in Hamburg in 1998 and the Klaessons Design Team award in 2002.

 

Timo Salli is one of the four designers behind Snowcrash. Snowcrash was founded in 1997 and held its first exhibition at the Milan Furniture Fair in 1997. This experimental design group established an international reputation for their innovative and idiosyncratic vision of furniture and products designed to equip contemporary lifestyles (www.snowcrash.corpsite.tc  ).
