He began the week by introducing pieces of his personal and professional design work while discussing graphic design standards and elements. He asked participants to study the surrounding Boisbuchet environment and identify areas of the natural and emotional landscape important to them. Pieces of earth, rocks, leaves, and colors were collected as each group member began to compose their personal Boisbuchet collage. From this collection, Salas encouraged students to select their favorite elements and, using them as inspiration, begin to sketch various forms of brochure formats. The group began in a 2 dimensional format, then quickly went on to create more complex 3 dimensional folded pieces. Leaves and windows inspired one creation, while rocks and continuity were the starting point for another. Late nights of discussion, combined with cropping, cutting, and glueing resulted in a diverse collection of folding brochures that uniquely represented the Boisbuchet experience. |
