Following in his footsteps, the group began by collecting random objects found in the Boisbuchet environment. Everything from leaves to discarded plastic was gathered and meticulously sorted. Using his own artistic work as reference, Pepe urged students to look past the physicality of the pieces and instead use them as components of graphic design. A twig could became typography, thread could be a line -- such interpretations inspired the group as each designed poster-sized “layouts”. Daily critique and discussion encouraged participants to continue producing work until the final Friday evening presentation. In honor of his hometown, Pepe supplied “Agua de Valencia” to an enthusiastic crowd as the group proudly displayed their work and reflected on a week well spent. |
