The workshop starts on Monday morning after a guided tour of Domaine de Boisbuchet.

After an introduction to the topic by the designer, ideas are developed that will be realized during the following days.

Friday afternoon the final presentation will be held. Participants will work in the mornings and in the afternoons; the exact times will be defined by the teacher and by the participants.

Leisure time

Domaine de Boisbuchet's extensive, park-like grounds are perfect for jogging and hiking. In the evenings an accompanying programme will take place, including lectures, discussions, and joint leisure activities.

Departure:

Saturday morning*

The course ends on Saturday after breakfast.

The bus will take people back to Poitiers station at 10 am. We advise you not to make a reservation for trains leaving Poitiers before 12 o’clock!

Accommodation

Participants will be accommodated in the Dépendance, the former service building of the Domaine, which has been turned into a guest house. There you find several rooms with 3 – 6 beds and one dormitory. All rooms have their own sanitary facilities (WC/shower). The rooms are furnished with comfortable, old furniture, and they are very charming. The participation fee includes accommodation in a shared room.

However, you can rent a single or double bedroom at additional cost. Unfortunately, we cannot make a reservation, because the number of rooms is limited. But we will try our best to meet your wishes. Valuable items can be locked in the office.

Board

The day begins with breakfast of fresh baguettes, cheese, muesli and coffee and tea at 8.30 am.

At lunchtime (around 1 pm) there is a selection of cold dishes with patés, quiches and salads in warm weather and vegetable soup, hotpots etc. if the weather is cooler.

In the afternoon tea and coffee is served.

The evening meal consists of salads, a main course and a dessert, accompanied by wine, beer and water.

At Boisbuchet, meals play an important role: They not only satisfy culinary needs, they also provide a basis for communication. In warm weather, we will eat outside, in front of the Dependance. If it rains, we will eat in the barn’s side wing. The cuisine is international; the kitchen is run by an experienced chef. We are happy to cater for vegetarians.

Things which are necessary to bring along

Bed linen will be provided, but not towels. What you need are working clothes, solid shoes, a warm pullover, and a raincoat.

The climate in Boisbuchet is similar to the Atlantic area, so it may be quite cold at night even in the middle of summer. Do not forget your first-aid-kit, which should include Aspirin as well as medication for insect bites and against gastrointestinal infections. Please be aware that the next Pharmacy is 20 minutes away and can only be reached by car. If you are allergic to pollen- please bring your medication.

And don’t forget to bring some EURO (for your extra drinks, bus transfer to Poitiers, items you want to buy at our shop etc.), as we can neither accept any other currency nor credit cards.

Things which are available at Boisbuchet

At Boisbuchet we have a little shop. Catalogues published by Vitra Design Museum, miniatures, Tshirts, postcards and some other souvenirs can be bought. At the end of the week a CD with digital photographs of the whole workshop week is available.

IMPORTANT

- Insurance and medical issues Each participant is responsible for arranging sufficient insurance coverage for the duration of the workshop: accident, liability and health insurance for travel abroad including return transport to your country (evacuation) as well as theft insurance for one’s personal effects. If you are on special medication, make sure to bring enough with you. Confolens, the biggest nearest town 9kms away, has pharmacies and a hospital, but if special medicines need to be ordered, it may take a few days. If you suffer from allergic reactions, please inform us in advance. How to reach Boisbuchet Boisbuchet is located in the Southwest of France, between the cities of Limoges, Angoulême and Poitiers, near Confolens.

Traveling by airplane

If you travel from overseas or from a distant country, the easiest is to fly into Paris (note there are direct flights from London to Poitiers). In Paris you take the TGV train to Poitiers (in 90 minutes). Most of the trains leave from Gare Montparnasse, but there are some direct trains from the Airport Charles de Gaulle. Make sure to book tickets for the TGV in advance, because you are not allowed to board the train without a valid reservation. Check for trains on www.voyages-sncf.com and for local traffic in Paris www.ratp.fr.

Traveling by train

Please take the train to Poitiers. Most trains will pass though Paris. There are direct trains as well from Strasbourg where you do not have to switch trains in Paris. Participants who arrive from Portugal or Spain will travel via Bordeaux–Angoulême–Poitiers.

For further information, please contact your travel agent or visit the following website: www.sncf.com.

Traveling by car

We recommend the website www.viamichelin.com or www. maps.google.com with the following information for the search engine: Country: France Address: Boisbuchet Place: 16500 Lessac

If you arrive from Poitiers, driving through Pressac to Lessac (North entrance), take the street on the left side of the church and at the end go left. After hundred meters you will see a sign to Boisbuchet. If you arrive from Confolens or Bellac, follow the road signs to Lessac and find the church. We strongly recommend that you print out a map of Lessac and its surroundings.
