BENOIT PYPE

“From the careful observation of my immediate surroundings, I formulate attempts of domestication, of appropriation of shapes.I do my utmost care to catch the almost imperceptible manifestations of the matter’s state changes by paying particular attention to the derisory, the insignificant. The point is to highlight the richness and the qualities specific to the discrete transformations, the cheap materials, and enter my intervention into the field of sculpture.
Our current lifestyles submit to the cult of acceleration and instantaneity propose a number of questions. My commitment spreads out here and builds up on the appreciation of time, of the proper use of the slowness, in order to increase our capacity to host the event.”

Benoit PYPE is an artist represented by the Galerie Aline Vidal in Paris, and a teacher.
- Graduated from l’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs - Paris (2011) and DNAP art – with jury’s honours (2009).
- Conferences, seminars and workshops: speed at École Supérieure d’Art of Lorraine Metz (2012), Conference “Trip around my bedroom” at FRAC Languedoc-Roussillon.
-Teacher speaker at École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts of Montpellier.
-Finalist Audi Talents Award. Final selection, Emerige prize.
-Numerous exhibitions including FIAC Hors les murs // Jardin des Plantes (2014) or Palais de Tokyo or at Centquatre.

CATHERINE NOYELLE

Do-in is a set of practices designed to make the energy circulate throughout the body, through breathing and movement.

These body practices consist of stretching, movements of the joints and self-massage by friction, pressure and impact synchronized with breath. The exhalations coming from breathing will penetrate the space created in each joint by the movement: the body rediscovers its state of fluidity and opening.

Catherine Noyelle is a Shiatsu practitioner, certified by Iokaî Shiatsu Europe since 2008. She is teaching DO IN since 2006 and contributes to projects « Contemporary art and movements » in different cultural places.

The Workshop

On Sunday mornings during our summer season, the Centre Pompidou will open its doors to our participants. Echoing our theme for this year “Grow the Future Now”, the Centre Pompidou proposes a space for discovering, for exchange and for artistic practice to slow down and go into a state that fosters creativity.

The program consists of two parts:
Slow down by a sensitive encounter with art: Discover masterpieces of the National Museum of Modern Art through the experience of gesture and shiatsu – Do In of Catherine Noyelle.
Understand and experience the idea of deceleration based on the artistic approach of Beonit Pype, in a workshop hosted by himself.
