Le myc\u00e9lium est la structure semblable \u00e0 une racine d’un champignon – un r\u00e9seau de longues fibres ramifi\u00e9es (hyphes) qui se lient les unes aux autres sous nos pieds, chacun de nos pieds couvrant en moyenne 400 km d’un r\u00e9seau fongique de myc\u00e9lium. Gr\u00e2ce au myc\u00e9lium, le champignon re\u00e7oit ses nutriments en filtrant le sol et l’eau pour les produits chimiques et les micro-organismes, tout en \u00e9liminant de l’environnement les contaminants du sol \u00e0 base de carbone.<\/p>\n<\/div>

La recherche a montr\u00e9 que les r\u00e9seaux myc\u00e9liens jouent un r\u00f4le essentiel dans le fonctionnement et la structuration des communaut\u00e9s v\u00e9g\u00e9tales, s’av\u00e9rant un \u00e9l\u00e9ment fiable de la rev\u00e9g\u00e9talisation. Tandis qu’en agriculture, le myc\u00e9lium peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour la bio-fertilisation et la r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ration des sols. Il est en effet essentiel \u00e0 la transformation de la biomasse en compost<\/strong>. C’est-\u00e0-dire la d\u00e9composition de la mati\u00e8re en engrais organiques.<\/p>\n

Le myc\u00e9lium s’av\u00e8re \u00e9galement \u00eatre un mat\u00e9riau efficace dans la conception de produits industriels. Les concepteurs utilisent sa croissance dans un processus de myco-fabrication<\/strong> pour cr\u00e9er des mat\u00e9riaux biocirculaires \u00e0 partir de d\u00e9chets organiques. Les hyphes fibreux du myc\u00e9lium se lient les uns aux autres par la chitine, une biomol\u00e9cule produite naturellement qui soutient la structure de l’organisme et l’aide \u00e0 garder sa forme. Elle agit comme une colle naturelle qui peut transformer les d\u00e9chets agricoles en une alternative aux emballages plastiques et au polystyr\u00e8ne, qui utilisent des produits p\u00e9trochimiques nocifs et sont fabriqu\u00e9s \u00e0 partir de r\u00e9serves finies de p\u00e9trole et de gaz.<\/p>\n

Travailler avec des champignons : Une perspective diff\u00e9rente<\/h3>\n

Le studio de design parisien Al\u00e9a (Miriam Josi et Stella Lee Prowse)<\/a> adopte une approche diff\u00e9rente de la myco-fabrication. Plut\u00f4t que de faire pousser le myc\u00e9lium dans des conditions de laboratoire, elles utilisent le sol local comme moule pour faire pousser leurs cr\u00e9ations. Cela leur permet d’\u00e9viter les processus de st\u00e9rilisation et l’utilisation de moules en plastique. Ensemble, ils explorent la capacit\u00e9 du myc\u00e9lium \u00e0 r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rer les sols et \u00e0 r\u00e9introduire la biodiversit\u00e9 dans l’environnement.<\/p>\n

En 2021, le prix de la r\u00e9sidence Boisbuchet<\/strong> a donn\u00e9 \u00e0 Miriam et Stella l’occasion d’amener le laboratoire dans la nature. Ensemble, elles ont appliqu\u00e9 leur exploration bio-inclusive \u00e0 une plus grande \u00e9chelle. Back to dirt – a bio-inclusive process with mycelium, soutenu par FAIRE Paris – propose un processus de myco-fabrication plus int\u00e9gr\u00e9. Il d\u00e9veloppe ce processus en utilisant le sol local comme moule pour faire pousser des objets. Back to dirt a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 au Design Museum London Design with the Living Symposium 2021.<\/p>\n

Le studio a \u00e9galement collabor\u00e9 avec la directrice du Living Systems Lab<\/a>, Carole Collet, en explorant les textiles pour cr\u00e9er un moule digestif souple h\u00e9berg\u00e9 dans le sol pour contr\u00f4ler et r\u00e9colter les artefacts cultiv\u00e9s par le myc\u00e9lium \u00e0 une temp\u00e9rature ambiante. La s\u00e9rie de chaises miniatures en myc\u00e9lium qui en r\u00e9sulte a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e au Frac Centre-Val de Loire \u00e0 Orl\u00e9ans dans le cadre de l’exposition “Paysages du design, les femmes au c\u0153ur du Boisbuchet”.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>
