\u00c0 Londres, \u00e0 Trafalgar Square, une colonne de 52\u00a0m\u00e8tres s\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve vers les cieux pour d\u00e9fendre de mani\u00e8re acharn\u00e9e la traite des esclaves des Indes orientales. Dans le m\u00eame temps, dans les Black\u00a0Hills dans le Dakota du Sud, les visages de 18\u00a0m\u00e8tres de haut de quatre\u00a0Pr\u00e9sidents am\u00e9ricains ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9rig\u00e9s sur un lieu sacr\u00e9 de pri\u00e8re et de d\u00e9votion des peuples natifs des grandes plaines.<\/p>\n

Un monument a donc le pouvoir de d\u00e9cider qui sont les gagnants et qui sont les perdants dans l\u2019histoire, de renvoyer au silence les voix oubli\u00e9es et de renforcer les r\u00e9cits officiels.<\/p>\n

Dans cet atelier, nous explorerons le concept de \u00ab\u00a0monument\u00a0\u00bb en tant que strat\u00e9gie de r\u00e9appropriation de nos espaces physiques, dans la mesure o\u00f9 un monument est vecteur de provocation et de r\u00e9habilitation. Nous ferons tomber la notion de \u00ab\u00a0monument\u00a0\u00bb de son pi\u00e9destal, en d\u00e9construisant et repositionnant le pouvoir qu\u2019un monument peut avoir sur nous-m\u00eames.<\/p>\n

Les participants \u00e9rigeront un totem, une sculpture, un ob\u00e9lisque ou une installation d\u2019architecture qui leur sera propre et qui rendra publiquement hommage \u00e0 de telles appropriations, semblables aux aspirations menant bien au-del\u00e0 des mythes et des mensonges des hommes, des nations et des arm\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

Nos recherches sur l\u2019histoire et la politique du \u00ab\u00a0monument\u00a0\u00bb et sa relation avec les espaces et les lieux normatifs au sein desquels nous \u00e9voluons au quotidien int\u00e9greront la vid\u00e9ographie et la th\u00e9orie du design.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
