BOISBUCHET RESIDENCY PROGRAMME

DANTE MEDINA GÓMEZ

SEASON 2025

Dante Medina Gómez is a visual artist originally from Mexico City.

In the case of this residency, his proposal was very simple from the beginning: to make a series of plates using stones from the Vienne River, which runs alongside the Domaine de Boisbuchet. The idea behind making stone plates responds to the accelerated pace of life in big cities, where people try to be as efficient as possible in all areas of daily life, including lunchtime, sacrificing its social nature in exchange for more hours of work or entertainment. When using a plate that weighs 20 kilograms, one is compelled to turn the meal into an experience and to want to share it with someone else.

The final presentation took place inside the Japanese House of Boisbuchet, where the plates were arranged within an installation featuring vividly colored foods that contrasted sharply with the muted tones of the stone.
