Baskets - that sounds boring. But when you discover them as intelligent pieces of 3D textile they become a lot more interesting. The way in which fibers come together in order to play specific functions within a basket is often so clever, that it feels a shame to only use this technique for something that holds your apples and pears.
In this workshop you will learn how to make triaxial-weaves that are very basic but super clever when it comes to making strong shapes for a lot more than baskets. Once you are open for it you’ll see possibilities for triaxial-weaves everywhere. For those who think this workshop is too crafty, just consider it so high-tech that indeed no machine exists yet which achieves the complexity of this ancient technique. For those who already know the craft of triaxial weaving, come join the team and share your knowledge.

Bertjan Pot est un designer, probablement mieux connu pour sa Random Light (1999) et sa collection continue de masques. Ces deux projets ont débuté comme une recherche sur les matériaux, ce qui constitue en réalité le point de départ de chacun des produits créés par Bertjan Pot. Le résultat est généralement un objet qui reflète une fascination pour les techniques, les structures, les motifs et les couleurs.
La plupart de ses expérimentations commencent de manière assez impulsive, par une curiosité sur le fonctionnement d’un objet ou l’apparence qu’il pourrait avoir. À partir de là, Pot relève des défis avec des fabricants pour explorer de nouvelles possibilités et repousser les limites. La récompense de chaque défi est le défi suivant.
