L’atelier
This workshop focuses on designing a simple design object and producing it locally at Boisbuchet. The selected objects will be part of Boisbuchet’s inaugural product line which will be subsequently sold on the Boisbuchet website.
All aspects of a real product design process will be considered: from initial brainstorm to sketch models, presentation, selection, critique, production, graphic design, packaging, etc.
Philippe will be the client and brief the participants. The brief will outline a very simple method of production on site, which allows the selected designs to be easily manufacturable on the grounds of Boisbuchet. A jury will select and review the submitted products and choose a few to go into production.
The whole workshop thus represents an accelerated outline of a standard design process.
Philippe Malouin Canada
Philippe Malouin, britannique et canadien, est titulaire d’une licence en design obtenue à la Design Academy d’Eindhoven. Il a également étudié à l’École nationale supérieure de la création industrielle de Paris et à l’Université de Montréal.
Il a créé son studio en 2008 après avoir travaillé pour le designer anglais Tom Dixon. Philippe a également enseigné au Royal College of Art de Londres entre 2012 et 2015. Il est également directeur de POST-OFFICE, un cabinet d’architecture et de design d’intérieur.
Son portfolio est varié et se compose de tables, de tapis, de chaises, de lampes, d’objets d’art et d’installations. Philippe est représenté par la galerie Salon 94 Design à New York. Il a récemment remporté le prix du « designer de l’année » du magazine Wallpaper*. Philippe vit et travaille à Londres, où il dirige son studio de design.
