Domaine de Boisbuchet — Freelance Personal Assistant to the Founder (Independent Contractor)

This mission is intended for professionals in design management, architecture, or related cultural fields who are eager to take on the diverse challenges of an innovative institution at the intersection of design, architecture, and education — working closely with a unique figure internationally recognized for cultural entrepreneurship.

Personal assistance duties include:

  • Drafting formal and informal letters in English and French
  • Managing the founder’s personal schedule
  • Coordinating projects
  • Organizing and classifying information
  • Taking minutes of meetings

Required profile:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Native French speaker with concise spoken and written English. German is desirable.
  • Experience in personal or team assistance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite
  • Strong interest in cultural entrepreneurship related to design and architecture
  • Independent, curious, flexible, and analytically minded
  • Valid driver’s license (car)
  • Personal health insurance

Conditions:

  • Based (at least partially) at Domaine de Boisbuchet, Lessac (south-west France, between Limoges, Poitiers, and Angoulême). On-site presence according to project needs.
  • Private room and meals provided as practical facilities during on-site periods.
  • Initial collaboration period of 6 months, extendable by mutual agreement.
  • Professional travel within France and abroad reimbursed against receipts.
  • Monthly flat fee agreed in advance and invoiced by the contractor.
  • This is a service mission and not an employment contract; no subordination relationship is intended or created. The contractor remains responsible for their own taxes, social contributions, and insurance.

Context:

Alexander von Vegesack is the founding director of the Vitra Design Museum (1988–2011) and currently acting president of Domaine de Boisbuchet, which he founded 30 years ago. He oversees the general direction of Boisbuchet, including workshops, exhibitions, and lectures on design and architecture, as well as the development of the cultural center through numerous building projects and diverse events. He continuously initiates external projects and maintains international professional relations with museums, private individuals, companies, NGOs, and local and national authorities. Based in Boisbuchet, his work involves frequent international travel and continuous communication across all platforms.
