Objects of Common Interest (US)

A Contemplation Park

July 23rd – July 29th 2023

Eleni Petaloti and Leonidas Trampoukis are a duo behind the studio Objects of Common Interest, working within the realm of art and design and architecture, blending projects in scale from objects and installations to interactive immersive environments and interior spaces. They are also founding partners of the sibling studio LOT office for architecture, and they are based between New York and Athens.

Their work has been exhibited at art and design institutions, galleries, and fairs – including solo shows at the Noguchi Museum, Design Museum Brussels, Cycladic Museum, Etage Projects, Carwan Gallery, Architecture Biennale, and the Salone del Mobile in Milan. Their work allows various kinds of collaboration such as the partnership with Kvadrat to produce the object/installation Doric Column – Kinetic Object and the design of the new store of Nili Lotan in Palm Beach.

Leonidas and Eleni share a common vision in flowing seamlessly through interdisciplinary practices focusing on strong concepts that blur the boundaries between the artistic and the pragmatic, between form and abstraction, the tangible and intangible merging their strong backgrounds in architecture and art.

Objects of common interest were formed with the focus on creating still life installations and experiential environments and objects, demonstrating a fixation with materiality, concept, and tangible spatial experiences. The work roots from an amalgamation of thinking and making between two diverse poles, Greece, and New York. Their projects balance between the long-lasting and the ephemeral in time and the creative approach is enriched with a layer of conceptual readings.

Objects of Common Interest were recently named ‘Designers of the year’ and won the Wallpaper* Design award 2022. They were also selected for the AD100 list 2022 of the top designers and architects and they also won the design prize 2021 for experimentation by Designboom Awards. Their work has been widely featured in press including The Wall Street Journal, T Magazine, Wallpaper*, Elle Decor, Surface Magazine, Architectural Digest, FRAME and PHAIDON publishers.

The Workshop

Our workshop is a response to space and human presence and to the reactions a man-made condition, structure or fabrication evokes. It enables moments to find inner peace, serenity and focus. It'll take place indoors and in the outdoors’ nature - on, above or under the ground.

We'll create structures, objects, moments, or atmospheres for the communication with our context, for the finding of placidity, for the connection with oneself through isolation, gathering, inhabitation or intervention.

Participants shall use Boisbuchet's resources and activate all areas of the facilities in pursuit of that personal moment in order to create their very own piece: a stand alone object, a placement of some sort, a pavilion, a viewing platform, an interaction of any form that speaks to their own way of finding peace.

The collection of all these moments becomes the contemplation park, a journey through Boisbuchet that connects all our projects across a network of paths and experiences. The park's connective concept and the making of its map is a collective work of the whole group.
