The Workshop

The phases towards the realization of an exhibition can follow various paths and methods. However, some of them are recurrent and fundamental. Among the most important steps, we should mention the research, the fact-checking of resources, the drafting of the concept, the necessity of adding hypothesis and knowledge to the addressed subject, and the setting of a visual representation that allows the understanding of the overarching theme.

Our workshop is dedicated to the construction of a hypothetical exhibition through all these milestones and aims to realize a text and a small handmade publication that includes all our steps of the conceptual process. Participants will have to bring to the workshop three reference publications that have determined their lives. Our small joint library shall then determine our disciplinary orientation and a maximum of three curatorial paths. In the following step, Boisbuchet’s library and archive, its collection and its practice where material culture, architecture and landscape design and agriculture are interconnected, will become our place of verification, implementation and sourcing of contents.

Making use of mind maps, digital presentations and debates, we are going to produce a concept, write a critical accompanying text, establish a hypothetical list of objects, works and documents to put on display. Finally, you will be called to identify a network of partners for our exhibition’s production.

The course is assisted by Maria Walter Nielsen, teacher and graphic designer, who will support step by step the participants in the realization of the booklet of presentation of the research, introducing techniques of collage, illustration, drawing and photography.
