EXPOSITION D’ÉTÉ

LES IDÉES PRENNENT FORME

DOMAINE DE BOISBUCHET

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the Domaine de Boisbuchet is highlighting the design collection of its founder Alexander von Vegesack.

During his travels in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and the Mahgreb he found furniture, lamps, garments, saddles, vehicles, and many other articles of the everyday life and used them to inspire visitors of numerous exhibitions around the world – at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris as well as at the Pinacoteca Agnelli in Turin. Collected for more than 60 years, his thousands of objects form an encyclopedic collection that represents a seminal understanding of today’s universal meaning of design.

The exhibition at Domaine de Boisbuchet questions the connections of these very different artefacts from an aesthetic or technical point of view, regarding their purpose and across history and cultures. The approximately 150 selected items include rare masterpieces by Le Corbusier, Charles Eames, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Ettore Sottsass and are accompanied by books, paintings, photos, and films. Together, these works reflect the adventures of a collector who has always discovered, even in the most common things, new ideas that have coined, improved, or inspired the life of people.
