The Vitra Design Museum opened in 1989 as part of the Vitra Factory Campus in Weil am Rehin in a building designed by Frank Gehry and within a short time it became established as an independent cultural institution. Today it is one of the leading design museum worldwide. It is dedicated to the research and presentation of design, past and present, and it examines its relationship to architecture, art and everyday culture.
