The Workshop
This workshop is dedicated to geography in its literal sense: A practice of drawing the surface of the earth.
Our ground for drawing will not be a sheet of paper, but a field in the open air, and our tools will not be pencils or printers, but imaginative drawing tools that we make on the spot, composed from materials we find on Boisbuchet's site and assembled in the workshop.
These tools can be worn like clothes or shoes, pulled like ploughs or held like giant pencils. They are instruments inspired by rakes or compasses in order to dig niches, carve patterns, or be thrown down to earth to draw wind-animated creatures or whimsical patterns on the ground as they drift.
Each participant designs and builds their own tools while together we'll become geographers and sculptors of earthly drawings on a collective surface, a canvas of loose earth, a ground that will also be drawn and prepared during our workshop.
While traces are etched and erased on this experimental field, drawing tools will continue to be developed and refined. Thus, as a team, we produce an evolving composition in which we can be designers, curators, sculptors, or gardeners.
