In an increasingly confusing world, it is hard to discern what "pure nature" is – in any case, it seems to have become a rare commodity to which we have little access. But if we want to take responsibility for the health of the planet, we should also be able to define what humans may and may not use. Architecture must not humanize the whole world, but must free parts of the earth's crust from human use and protect them from it. Respect for nature and a partnership with it are hardly conceivable otherwise.

The Leaveitbe project is based on this premise. It is about circles in the landscape that are defined through signs such as a carved-out path, a stone ring, a fence or even a built-up space that beyond may no longer be entered, touched or subjected to the needs of man. The beyond shall return to a "natural" state – to a new kind of nature reserve.

In Boisbuchet we want to explore this concept and design and create one of the first leaveitbes ever. With our collection of knowledge, questions and ideas we want to identify together such a future reserve, choose the materials, forms and principles to construct our sign and build it with our own hands – in harmony with the inside and outside of the circle. 

The result of our teamwork should be an architectural object from which one can observe what nature does when it is freed from human activity.
